Cube Fritzz Geometry: 435mm Chainstays on Every Size, and a High Pivot That Moves Them

Cube announced the Fritzz on August 12 as part of its 2027 range, and the headline is that Germany’s largest bike brand has built a high-pivot enduro bike. The more interesting number is in the chart: 435mm chainstays, on every frame size from S to XL.

That is a choice worth taking apart, because on this particular bike the static figure is the least honest number on the page.

Those two columns are headset settings, not wheel sizes. Offset cups shift the head angle by 0.6 degrees, and the head-angle row is what settles it: 63.8° against 64.4° is exactly the cup adjustment Cube quotes, and a rear wheel swap does not produce a change of that shape. Worth flagging because Pinkbike’s first look presents a similar pair of reach figures as 27.5in against 29in, and lists a 447mm chainstay for the 29er configuration. If you are cross-shopping charts, read the column headers before you read the numbers.

Why 435mm is not really 435mm

The Fritzz runs a Horst link with the main pivot placed high and an idler above the chainring, which you can see in Cube’s studio photography along with an MRP lower guide keeping the chain on. High pivots exist to make the rear axle travel rearwards as the bike compresses, so the wheel moves away from an impact rather than into it.

The consequence is that the chainstay length is a curve, not a value. Pinkbike puts the numbers at 435mm at top-out, growing to roughly 450mm at its longest, then shortening again as the bike reaches bottom-out. So the 435mm in the chart is where the bike sits when nothing is happening, which is the one moment in a rough descent that never lasts.

This is the honest case for Cube not making the stays size-specific: on a bike where the rear centre swings through 15mm of its own accord, engineering four different static lengths chases a precision the suspension immediately erases. The counter-argument is just as real. A 1295mm XL wheelbase sitting on the same 435mm rear as a 1206mm S means the XL rider carries far more of the bike in front of them, and the weight distribution that results is not the same bike in a different size. Riders near 6ft 4in have spent the last five years being told this matters. On the Fritzz they are being told it does not.

Both things can be true. Growth through travel is shared across sizes, but so is the starting point, and the starting point is where you weight the front tyre in a flat corner.

The rest of the numbers

Travel is 170mm up front against 175mm out back in the 27.5in rear configuration, rising to 177mm with the 29in dropout fitted. The bike ships as a mullet, with the alternate dropout supplied in the box, and Cube’s own studio shots confirm it: a 29×2.50 Magic Mary in front, a 27.5×2.50 Tacky Chan behind.

The frame is C:62 carbon front and rear, claimed at 4.2kg in size S with a RockShox Vivid Air Ultimate, and a complete Medium comes in at 17.2kg, near enough 38lb. Two shock mounting positions are offered: a linear rate intended for air units, and a progressive one for coil. Both launch builds run air.

Stack is the sizing detail most likely to catch someone out. It is essentially flat from S through L at 628 to 631mm, then jumps about 20mm to 647mm on the XL. Every size ships with a 40mm rise bar, so a rider moving from L to XL for the reach picks up a noticeably taller front end at the same time. Seat tubes are short and stop at 420mm on both L and XL, which leaves dropper choice genuinely open.

Head tube lengths tell the same story: 103mm on S and M, 105mm on L, then 125mm on XL.

Pricing starts at €3,000 for a complete bike, with the C:62 Super TM listed at £4,999.

The brand-level move

The Fritzz is not an isolated experiment. Cube’s 2027 range also replaces the Two15 downhill bike with a completely redesigned 200mm frame in High Performance Aluminium, and that one runs a high pivot too, at £3,999. The reworked Stereo trail platform stays conventional at 150mm front and 145mm rear.

So Cube has put high-pivot suspension on both of its gravity platforms in a single model year, at prices that undercut most of the boutique brands that made the layout fashionable. That is the part of this launch likely to matter in two years. High pivots stopped being exotic when Commencal and Forbidden proved they worked; they stop being expensive when a brand with Cube’s volume decides to build them at €3,000.

What the chart does not answer is how a 435mm static rear feels under a tall rider once the idler starts doing its work. That is a question for the first long-term tests, not for a geometry table.
